On a walk last October I returned home via my local Moorfields allotments. Spread across the Southern rise of a hill above the City of Bath the allotments have a spectacular view. At 4.00 this Autumn evening the glow of the evening sun settled over the honeyed stonework of the Royal Crescent across the valley and the river Avon below. But by my feet large orange pumpkins, too large for their patch, caught my eye; their hue intensified by the evening light. I was so inspired and then excited as I looked up and around and felt that the colour, texture, light, shape, form here at the humblest of places was rich with opportunity and I committed to painting them for a year. From Autumn 2019 to Spring 2020 here are works from Moorfields allotments and I am currently working on Summer!
