Allotments in Autumn
The end of the summer. Nights draw in but harvest is abundant. Enormous leaves turn crispy brown; greenhouses offer the last of the juicy fruits and light up from the lowering sun. Drying beans hang. Crops try ever harder to produce to their last. The most beautiful warm light plays around the shapes. Wellies are worn again and trugs fill with offerings. The last of the dahlias, sweet peas give over to sleep.
