This painted started with the dried drooping roses that I have been painting for a while in my studio. As winter came they turned gracefully in to a new crisp dried form as elegant as their previous guise. Then I picked the last rose from the garden in January and added it to the pot  and so this went on so that the life cycle of the Rose informed this large painting.

Deep unctuous colours and elegant form create a familiar image somewhat abstracted as is my way. When abstraction meets reality and leaves the rest to the viewers imagination the magic happens.
