At a Wild and Wonderful course that I taught in Penarth in spring, Alison  had pots and pots of these fabulous characters ;pushing and josling for space and at all stages of life. Some of the tulips in new bud some wilting and bending, falling on each other, stamens flaunted. The day and the smell and the abundance came home with me. (and I gotta say the gorgeous peeps on the course did awesome work too!!!)
