Natalie Bedford is a multidisciplinary British artist whose practice spans drawing, painting, and film. Her work is expressive, vibrant, and deeply rooted in lived experience, often exploring the female form, florals, and outdoor environments. These themes are shaped by her life as a swimmer, mother, and educator, and reflect a commitment to presence, movement, and emotional resonance.
Natalie studied at Birmingham School of Fine Art, pursued printmaking at West Herts College, and completed her MA at Bath Spa University. At age 22, she received a scholarship to the Atlin Centre for the Arts in Canada, a formative experience that deepened her understanding of Concept and creative process in art. She is currently a resident of Emerge, a professional creative space in Bath, where she continues to develop her practice and engage with a vibrant artistic community.

Her career has included teaching Design Technology and Art in secondary schools, leading Wild and Wonderful workshops that encourage creative expression, and collaborating with University of Bath MBA students and Forest of Imagination on interdisciplinary projects. She has exhibited solo and in public exhibitions with and a standout moment at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

Her practice is grounded in a continuous, intuitive engagement with materials—charcoal, ink, Stabilo pens, oil paint—and a process that often begins with sketching and studio experimentation.
Always pen in hand—looking, seeing, and mark-making—Natalie’s work is a response to the world around her, capturing fleeting gestures and emotional truths. Often working on multiple pieces simultaneously, she allows ideas to evolve organically across surfaces and scales.

An ongoing inquiry into gesture, presence, and the relational space between artist and model informs much of her life drawing practice, where she seeks to honour the vulnerability and vitality of the human form. Her approach is both spontaneous and considered, aiming to evoke connection, energy, and a sense of immediacy. Whether painting allotments, swimming in quarries, or drawing from life in Talgarth, Natalie’s work celebrates authenticity and the joy of creative exploration.
Natalie lives in Bath with her husband and their dogs, and is regularly visited by their six daughters. Her life is full of adventure, creativity, and connection—qualities that infuse her art with warmth, honesty, and delight.
